Who is Francis Kurkjan

Francis Kurkdjan

Francis Kurkjan is a Turkish-born, Paris-based designer who rose to fame in the early part of the decade. Aged 33, Kurkjan is well known for his unique take on classic and feminine scents. Like most designers, he approaches the production of perfume with an aesthetic eye, instead of an economical one. Kurkjan perfumes include titles like Butterfly Kiss, Love in the Air, Ambiance, Justine, Eau de Cartier, Memories of You, Parislar, Le Smoking, La Travailleur, Exoticism, Heartbeat, Onyx, Out of the Night, Queen of Diamonds, Just Be, Seductive, Out of the Sky, Eon, and Achar.

Achar is a light fragrance that reminds me of berry preserve with hints of vanilla and rose. It makes me think of my childhood in Turkey when I would eat my share of ice cream and cherries. Kurkjan’s Achar design is highlighted by an intricate gold pattern that bursts into a vase of soft pink flowers. Achar has intriguing longevity, thanks in part to its designer status. I bought this perfume several years ago and have yet to receive any complaints.

The scent of memories of you is a terrifically strong fragrance. Kurkjan’s love of vintage scents lends itself to this perfume. It reminds me of my grandmother’s visits as a child (she was my aunt), so it has a faint resemblance to My Little Lamb. I’m not sure why my senses seem drawn to this fragrance, but it is extremely pleasant.
