Artist, perfumer, and designer Serge Luten is a prolific artist behind some of the most iconic and perfume bottles of our time. Inspired by his travels, his love for music, and powerful iconography rooted in ancient forms, he incorporates all these elements into design that is both avant-garde and timeless.

Most recently, Serge was commissioned by Cartier to create their flagship fragrance La Panthère for the launch of their new flagship store in New York City. Their first fragrance, launched in 1976, Cartier has since gone on to release 20 fragrances including the widely-known and loved Bel Ami and L’Instant de Bel Ami as well as newer offerings such as Le Male.

More recently, though not the first designer to be commissioned by Cartier for a perfume bottle, Serge was singled out as one of two artists chosen for their “Masterpiece” series. His first fragrance bottle was for the original aromatics Cartier’s “Le Millesime” launched in 1994.

Born in 1934 into an artistic family, Serge began painting at the age of 15. He apprenticed under his father who was a portrait painter and art teacher. By 17 he had his first solo show which proved to be a turning point. After illustrating the first edition of the best-selling book The House of Cartier, Serge decided to pursue his true passion, perfumery.
